Curriculum Vitae

Dublin City University (2007-2010)

I graduated with a BA in Journalism from Dublin City University in 2010, earning a 2:1 grade. The course modules covered all aspects of journalism: print, radio, television and online. Being in DCU provided me with ample opportunity to get practice in all of these disciplines, mainly through assignments, projects and contributing to the university newspaper, The College View.

I also managed to have a number of poems published by various outlets around this time and had work featured in the DCU Creative Writing Anthology for two consecutive years. Though I don't write poetry anymore, what I have written is still available to read on another blog, 'Peace in a Crack Den'.

Drogheda/Fingal Independents, The Argus (June-July 2010)

My university work placement was on the sports desk of three regional newspapers: the Drogheda Independent, The Fingal Independent and the Argus. During this time, I covered a range of different sports offered by clubs in the County Louth/Fingal areas: football, GAA, boxing, golf, basketball and even pigeon-racing.

I was responsible for rounding-up the results and reports for the Dundalk Summer League and I covered stories involving League of Ireland club Sporting Fingal. Other responsibilities included conducting the weekly vox-pop in Drogheda city centre, editing club notes and writing up some small straight news pieces for the Fingal Independent.

loi19.com (May 2013-March 2014)

Between 2013 and 2014, I worked on a voluntary basis with the official website of the national under-19s league in the Republic of Ireland, loi19.com. I started as a match reporter/live updater and journalist/feature writer, but eventually became an administrator on the site, uploading and sub-editing other reporters' copy. The team worked in close contact with the FAI who granted me the opportunity to be part of the 2013/2014 Enda McGuill Cup semi-final draw in Abbotstown.

CorkCityFC.ie (June 2013-November 2015)

I also began working voluntarily with the website of LOI Premier Division club Cork City in 2013, CorkCityFC.ie. Being based in Dublin, my work for them was restricted to covering the club's away games in the capital and writing about the opposition team for the matchday programme. This provided me with an invaluable insight into the Premier Division matchday experience.

Extratime.com (February 2015-September 2016)

In February 2015, I became a contributor to Extratime.com, a site renowned for its coverage of all things League of Ireland. In that short time I was fortunate enough to cover a number of different media events for the site, including club and country press conferences, as well as League of Ireland, Europa League and international matches. I was also an administrator for the site, responsible mainly for sub-editing and uploading other reporters' copy.

Centra, Bank of Ireland, Movies@ Cinemas, Aer Lingus and Paddy Power (July 2010-April 2021)

Having graduated from DCU, I started as a sales assistant in Centra, Clongriffin in 2010 and eventually became a supervisor. I would stay there for five and a half memorable years. In February 2016, I took up a new position as a cashier in Bank of Ireland, Sutton; I vacated this position in June 2016.

In August 2016, I became a cinema manager in Movies@ Cinemas, initially based in Dundrum. In November 2016, I was switched to Movies@Swords where, on top of my usual duties, I took on HR responsibilities. I left this position in April 2017. Then in July of 2017, I joined Aer Lingus as a Guest Service Agent on a short-term contract before joining Paddy Power as a Customer Service Agent in November 2017. In February 2019, I started writing for Paddy Power News. I departed Paddy Power in April 2021.
