For loi19.com: Enda McGuill Cup semi-final preview: Local lad, Drogheda United

Drogheda United’s Jordan Harmon is very much a local lad. Having begun his playing career with Drogheda Boys when he was eight years old, he stayed with them until just after his 17th birthday, when he joined Drogheda United in January 2013.

Now, just over a year later, he has an opportunity to reach a major cup final with his local League of Ireland club. However, Harmon – who counts the DDSL Major title he won with Drogheda Boys at u16 level as his only honour to date – is fully aware of the size of the task that awaits him and his teammates at Parnell’s GAA club in Coolock on Sunday.

“We’re feeling good,” he told loi19.com, “We just can’t wait to get out there and start playing, to be honest. We’ve put a good run together now and we feel that we can not only win the semi-final but the final as well.

“We know we don’t have a good record against them, but that’s in the past now – this Sunday is the one that matters, and if we beat them it will gives us huge belief that we can win the final as well as we’ll be boosted by beating the favourites.
